Karl Lagerfeld talks about his latest collection and what inspired him to produce Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2012 breathtaking underwater fantasy themed show.

The dresses were made out of uncommon materials like fiberglass, nylon, polyester and iridescent synthetics, some came with geometric motifs inspired by the “fabric paintings” of German artist, Blinky Palermo.

The usual chains, logos, and braids were no where to be seen. Chanel’s tweeds and pearls were the only indicators of the Chanel brand. Pearls were used in new and innovative ways as stud piercings, belts and decorative jewelry that adorned each model’s low, slicked backed hair buns.
